YOUR INITIAL APPOINTMENT
“Establishing your path back to health and wellbeing with professionalism and empathy”
What to expect at your initial appointment
A current referral is required for all consultations. This may be provided by your GP or another specialist. Your GP may send this to us directly but if you have a copy, bring it along.
We will take the time to answer all of your questions during your consultation, but we know that it can be difficult to know what to ask. To assist with this, we have put together written information on many colorectal surgical conditions. These include high quality information and answers to frequently asked questions, as well as resources and links for further information and support. See below for examples:
Colorectal cancer - What do I need to know?
Diverticular disease - Patient information
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please ensure you bring:
Your Medicare Card
Private Health Insurance Fund membership details
List of current medications
A copy of your referral (if you have one)
Relevant x-rays, scans or other tests results
Glasses, hearing aids and mobility aids
Fees and payments
A fee will apply to your consultation - we accept payment by credit card and EFTPOS. A Medicare rebate can be claimed for your consultation, as long as you have a valid referral.
Rebates
Health Fund rebates (further to the medicare rebate) can be claimed for ‘inpatient’ (i.e. when you are admitted to hospital) consultations and procedures.
